Mother’s Day is that one day of the year when mothers should be made to feel loved and appreciated, so this Mother’s Day you should put in that extra bit of effort to ensure that everything is about her.

Your mother has been there for you your entire life as your friend, counselor, guide and well, just as your mom. The least you can do on this day is not bog her down with your own troubles and worries; there are plenty of days in the year for you to do that. If you aren’t staying with your mom then coming down and surprising her would be the perfect gift that you could give her. Since you will be putting in the effort, go the extra mile and buy some heart-warming gifts, some chocolates and her favorite flowers on the way. Finding you at the doorstep with a basket full of goodies and a bouquet of flowers is a sight that she won’t forget in a hurry, it will be a memory that she will cherish forever.

If mom’s been worried about the weight she has piled on recently no matter how much she talks about wanting to lose that weight, getting her a gym membership or gifting her diet cook book is not such a great idea on this day. Instead accompany her for an evening walk or go for a mother-daughter/son hike to the nearby hiking trail. Spending quality time in the open air amidst nature will be a refreshing change for her and will make her feel rejuvenated. She might just take it up on a daily basis.

Cleaning the house and keeping it spick and span might be mom’s favorite hobby but don’t let her indulge herself and spend hours doing what she does practically every single day in the year. Instead, give her a break, let her put her feet up and just spend the afternoon lazing around. Turn the tables on her and let her relax as you tidy up the house and clean the dishes.
