Roses for Men

Who buys most flowers? Women! Yep, we love to get them and we love to give them. A surprising fact is that men love to get them, too. You know that warm, happy feeling you get when flowers arrive? Why not share that feeling with the man you love. Of course, in all the macho bravado they may deny it but look close, you’ll see a little smile, a blush of color and that unmistakable aura of love. Calling all women! Let’s share the fun. Buy flowers for your man today.

Roses for Men

The Perfect Roses for Your Sweetheart

Roses say it all for Valentine’s Day. A single rose expresses a sophisticated “I love you”. Two dozen roses gathered together in a vase shouts out, “I LOVE YOU!” The color that you choose makes a statement as well: Red = passionate love, Yellow = happy friendship, White = innocence, Pink = admiration and appreciation, Purple = love at first sight, Orange = dynamic energy. In the new rose color palette, Bronze = meet me for a cup of coffee and Green = peace and tranquility. What do you want your rose bouquet to say? Let Flora2000 help you write a love story today.

The History of Valentine’s Day

History Valentines Day

Flowers, chocolate, champagne, love notes and romance. We all know the trappings and most of us celebrate Valentine’s Day, but very few know that the holiday honors a young priest named Valentine who was put to death nearly 2,000 years ago. Emperor Claudius II decided that single men made better soldiers, so he outlawed marriage for young men. Valentine was outraged by this injustice and continued to perform marriages in secret for young lovers. In due course he was discovered and sentenced to death. While in prison he fell in love with the jailer’s daughter. Before he was taken away to his execution, Valentine sent a letter to the girl and signed it, “From You Valentine”, an expression that we still use today. Eventually Valentine was grated sainthood and in 496AD, Pope Gelasius declared February 14 as a day to honor Saint Valentine.

Waterford Crystal adds a sparkle to David Beahm’s collection

Designed by David Beahm, the New York Signature Collection is the creative work of a dedicated and innovative artist. The collection features exquisite and rare flowers that are further accentuated by their very own designer vases like the elegant Waterford Crystal’s Lismore Collection.

David has ingeniously used a few vases from this collection such as the Lismore Crystal bowl, an unusually shaped cylindrical vase from the Lismore Simplicity collection and an Old Fashioned Crystal Tumbler from the Lismore Classic collection. Waterford Crystal’s prized Ice Bucket from the Marquis Collection also makes an appearance.

These vases not only compliment David’s arrangements, they will stay long after the flowers, as an exquisite keepsake. Every time your loved-one looks at it, they will be reminded of your loving gesture.

Winter Orchids

Winter Orchids
Oncydium, phalaenopsis, cymbidium, dendrobium and paphiopedilum. Big words with lots of syllables – memorize them! These are magical words in the floral world. Each and everyone is a long lasting, absolutely gorgeous, and fabulously decadent blooming plant. Even better, they are amazingly easy to take care of. Phalaenopsis, one of my favorites, is commonly called the “Moth Orchid”. Available in lavender, white, pink and yellow each bloom looks like it is ready to take flight. Now, make yourself orchid terminology flash cards and head to Flora2000 today to buy yourself a little floral magic!

Designing with Succulents

Designing with Succulents
Low maintenance, long lasting, absolutely fabulous. Sound impossible? Let me introduce you to the trendiest plants around – Succulents. Also known as “fat plants”, succulents are water retaining plants adapted to arid climates and pour soil conditions. They are hardy enough to withstand even the most unfavorable growing conditions. This makes them the perfect plant for the busy lifestyle of today. Forget to water? Not to worry! These slow growing plants thrive on neglect. Bring one home and have fun. These plants can turn even the blackest thumb green.

The David Beahm Signature Collection

2010 marks the collaboration of Flora2000 and David Beahm. David, with his passionate approach and a stellar portfolio, brings his unique vision and a cool and arty edge to the Flora2000 designs you know and love.

All of David’s creations are a testament to his genius; the way he utilizes rare and unusual flowers is extraordinary. Amnesia and Black Beauty roses, Schwartzwalder calla lilies, Magic Vanda and Mokara orchids to name a few. His floral arrangements are not merely pretty bouquets, but expressive compositions which mean something and have a lot of thought behind them.

An artist who has chosen to work with flowers does not have a great variety of materials to choose from, yet David rises magnificently to the challenge of expressing his vision through floral arrangements.

This particular collection is marked by David’s use of unconventional holders; containers of all shapes, sizes and forms, from cut crystal scotch glasses to reclaimed rubber tires are used to showcase these exquisite flowers. Crystal ice buckets, gold plated dairy creamers, champagne flutes and tea sets, poly-stone and terracotta containers and balls of supple twig; these holders will stay with you long after the flowers as a keepsake.

Each item in this collection is named after an important person in David’s life; grandparents, friends, colleagues and people he has encountered in his travels who inspired him.
